Developing an AI-powered VR Training System for Community Policing in Rio de Janeiro's Favelas

Challenge background

This project is Rio de Janeiro's favelas and addresses a critical need for improved community policing. It leverages AI and VR technology to provide practical, immersive training that can lead to tangible improvements in community-police relations and overall safety in these unique urban environments.

The problem

Rio de Janeiro's favelas face significant challenges in terms of safety, trust, and communication between residents and law enforcement. Traditional policing methods have often led to tension and mistrust, hindering effective community safety efforts. There's a critical need for improved training in community policing techniques that can foster positive relationships and enhance safety in these unique urban environments.

Goal of the project

Develop an AI-powered virtual reality (VR) training system for both police officers and community leaders in Rio de Janeiro's favelas. This system will use natural language processing, computer vision, and machine learning to create realistic, culturally sensitive scenarios that train participants in de-escalation techniques, cultural competency, and effective communication strategies specific to favela environments.
