This Omdena Local Chapter Challenge runs for 5 weeks and is a unique experience to try and grow your skills in a collaborative and safe environment with a diverse mix of people from all over the world.

You will work on solving a local problem, initiated by the Omdena Accra, Ghana chapter.

The problem

We want to solve the inadequate availability of translation technology for African languages. We believe this will greatly help with Africa’s interactivity with the rest of the Globe. This challenge in particular seeks to help with the translation of Ghanaian Languages.

The goals

  • Source for train datasets.
  • Carryout data preprocessing.
  • Develop a Machine learning model.
  • Carry out inference with the trained model using test data.
  • Develop an API to be used by individuals.
