Omdena’s AI program will equip students with practical courses and real-world projects, preparing you to enter the industry. You will gain the knowledge and skills needed to tackle real-world AI challenges. Through collaborative learning, you will work within a community of fellow learners, exchange ideas, and learn from others. This hands-on experience will sharpen your critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, ensuring you’re ready to meet the evolving demands of the industry and pursue roles in AI-related fields.
About Africa ICT Right
Africa ICT Right (AIR) is an EdTech nonprofit organization that empowers underserved communities by providing access to innovative digital learning tools and STEM programs. We offer AI and STEM programs that equip children, youth and educators with essential tech skills through AI and coding workshops, comprehensive teacher training, personalized learning tools and platforms. Our mission is to bridge the digital divide, promote equity, and inspire the next generation of diverse leaders in technology and innovation. Through strategic partnerships and community engagement, we create inclusive educational opportunities that inspire and prepare the next generation of leaders.

Program phases
Phase 1: Foundation Course (12 weeks)
The foundation course offers live online lectures on AI fundamentals, ethics, and industry applications. It’s designed for students with little to no knowledge of AI and Machine Learning.

Phase 2: Specialized Learning (4 weeks of Guided Project Courses)
You will actively participate in a guided course focused on a real-world challenge, tailored to your specific interests. This course covers specialized topics such as Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, and Satellite Image Analysis. With instructor-led guidance, you’ll gain hands-on experience and practical insights, learning how to use your knowledge for real-world applications through step-by-step projects.

Phase 3: Building Real-World Applications (8 weeks of Solving Local or Global Challenges)
Upon completing Phase 2, you will join Omdena’s real-world AI projects. You will engage with challenges brought forward by actual organizations, working alongside international peers to identify crucial issues faced by local communities. Together, you’ll develop AI-driven solutions using real-world datasets to tackle environmental and governance problems.
Phase 4: Top Talent Project (4 weeks of Paid Opportunity)
The top 5% of students who complete at least one Innovation Challenge may be given paid work opportunities on Omdena’s top talent projects, working with real customers to optimize or deploy real-world applications.

Program Schedules
- All classes will be held in asynchronous mode, allowing students to attend sessions in person or via a video conference link in a hybrid format.
- Omdena provides a weekly guide with all resources required for the upcoming week.
- A monthly calendar for each module, including topics, session duration, and instructor information, will be shared.
Program Platform
- Platforms: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or G-meet.
- Recording will be available right after the session.
- Materials: GitHub classroom.
Periodic Assessments, Support, and Performance Reviews
- Omdena provides regular updates on your progress to keep everyone informed.
- If you need extra help, Omdena’s instructors are available for additional support and sessions.
- You can access peer-to-peer mentoring through Omdena’s global talent pool.
- You’ll receive a certificate from both Omdena and Africa ICT Right upon completing each module.
