The problem

This project focuses on enhancing a legal consultant platform to tackle a key issue in the legal sector: improving the efficiency, accessibility, and technological integration of legal assistance. This platform is aimed at addressing access to justice and drastically cutting the cost of legal help by teaching the public how to manage their own legal issues so that they need much less time in consultation with a lawyer. At the heart of this problem is the traditional approach to legal consulting, which often results in time-consuming processes, limited access to self-help guides, inability to understand the meaning of clauses in legal documents and templates they find online and the need to spend more time with lawyers than necessary skyrocketing cost, that make legal services less accessible to a broad range of clients. The impact of these issues is significant, leading to delays in critical legal advice, suboptimal outcomes due to mismatched expertise, and financial strain on clients, particularly individuals and small businesses.

The necessity for this project stems from a pressing need to streamline the self-help user experience through common day-to-day legal issues faced by individuals and small business, streamlining the online legal consultation processes, integrate modern technology, and offer a more diverse range of features that make the process much easier so that there is limited friction in engaging in the platform as a first option rather than going direct to a law firm. By doing so, the project aims to enhance the overall efficiency of legal services, making them quicker and more effective, and providing legal services to the 75% of the world who cannot afford lawyers to do the work for them but need a quality outcome and sound legal advice still. It also seeks to broaden access to legal expertise, ensuring clients can find the right consultant for their unique legal challenges and can watch the session with the lawyer again later to answer any of their questions they may have missed during the advice session. Additionally, by addressing these inefficiencies, the project has the potential to drastically reduce the overall cost of legal services, making them more affordable and accessible 24/7. Ultimately, this initiative represents a significant step towards ensuring equal treatment of all people and making legal services accessible no matter where a person lives or their financial situation.

The project goals

The ultimate goal of this project is to create a more efficient, user-friendly, and technologically advanced self-service platform i.e. think robolaw. This involves enhancing the overall user experience, particularly during onboarding, using artificial intelligence to suggest next steps and legal solutions, review contracts, improve document generation, ensuring consistent app availability, and resolving any technical issues. By upgrading both the backend and frontend components, including server infrastructure, caching, database, and programming frameworks, the project aims to streamline the process of legal consultation, making it more accessible, reliable, and cost-effective for clients. This will not only improve the service delivery for existing users but also attract a broader clientele, ultimately modernizing the legal consulting industry to meet contemporary needs and expectations.

Project Scope:

  • Assessment of Platform Development and Design: Conduct a thorough evaluation of the current state of the platform’s development and design.
  • Focus on User Experience and Onboarding: Prioritize enhancing the user experience, particularly during the onboarding process to the platform.
  • App Availability and Issue Resolution: Work on preventing and fixing any issues related to app availability.
